Tropical Fish Tanks and Aquariums – About This Site
A tropical fish tank is a wonderful thing when done well; a luminous, watery jewel filled with living things. However, there is quite a lot of work that goes into creating a beautiful aquarium. This site aims to help people to create and maintain fish tanks that they will be proud of, and that their fish will be happy to live in. It also aims to increase knowledge about the fish in the tank; their needs, their behavior, and their origins.
Articles on this site generally fall into one of two categories: articles about the practical side of keeping an aquarium, and articles about fish conservation. Some of the fish conservation articles can get a little technical although I have tried to keep them as accessible as possible.
My practical experience is with freshwater tanks, so these are the focus for my practical articles. I have a degree in biology, and I draw heavily on this background for my articles on fish science and conservation. I have worked in an aquarium and garden store for a year looking after the fish, and I will be using this background for some articles on the aquarium industry as seen from the inside.
